2017 Holiday Card Series #1: Believe

I’m kicking off my 2017 Holiday Card Series on an optimistic note with this first card…I BELIEVE I can finally meet my goal of at least 12 holiday cards by Christmas Day. 🙂  I am also challenging myself to again make coordinating holiday tags when possible, and to utilize the many craft supplies I already own but have not used yet.

First up to get inky were the Christmas Delights and Holiday Hoopla stamp sets from Poppystamps.  I believe I purchased these during the 2015 holiday season and they’ve been languishing amongst my craft stash ever since.

I stamped the images onto white cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink, colored them with COPIC markers, then cut them out with their coordinating dies.  I created Post-It masks for the sleigh and tall gift box, then used the partial-die cut technique to cut around the majority of the combined images and fussy cut the remaining areas.

As I was laying out the design I had in my head, I quickly realized all of the images were not going to fit onto the front of an A2 card.  I decided to have the finished card fit into a legal-size envelope instead, and created a top-folding white card base measuring 7.25″ x 8.5″ and scored it at 3.625″.

I cut a focal panel from white cardstock and did some ink blending to cover the entire panel using Mama Elephant Pacific Blue and Stargazer inks.  I let the pigment inks air dry, then stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink and heat set it with silver embossing powder.

I cut strips of white cardstock measuring 0.75″ x 8.5″ and 0.875″ x 8.5″ and adhered them to the ink blended panel with foam tape.  I attached the sleigh and reindeer to the panel with homemade glue dots, then added silver twine to attach the images.  I glued down the gift cluster with Tombow Multi Mono Glue and added foam tape to the top of the large gift box.

I added Stardust Stickles to two of the gifts and Xmas Red Stickles to the lead reindeer’s nose to complete this card.

I am submitting this card to the current Poppystamps Challenge (Masquerade) and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Anything Goes).

Thanks for stopping by!!
