Missing You

I generally prefer to do COPIC coloring during the day to take advantage of the natural light and ensure that I don’t color my images darker than I intended. However, I really wanted to submit a card to the current Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge (In the Middle) and ended up having to create this card in the middle of the night!  (I will also be entering this card in the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Make Your Own Background).

This little guy looks so sad watching his kite fly away and I thought the “missing you” sentiment was so fitting!  Now that I’ve had a good night’s sleep and look at this card, I do realize it’s weird to have the hedgehog “standing” on the sun…lol…I guess that’s another argument in favor of me crafting during the day (or at least a more reasonable hour)!

I created my own sunshine background using Avery Elle’s Bright Days stamp set and Simon Says Stamp Lemon Chiffon and Sunshine inks. I also blended the Lemon Chiffon ink on a scrap piece of cardstock before die-cutting a circle using the fourth largest circle from My Favorite Things Stitched Circle Stax. I then used a makeup wedge to add Sunshine ink to the outer edge of the sun before using a SSS Stitched Rectangle die to give the bottom of the sun a nice stitched edge to line up with the edge of the focal panel.

I stamped the images from Avery Elle’s More Stories in My Favorite Things Black Licorice Hybrid ink and Bubblegum Hybrid ink before coloring them with COPIC markers (individual colors used are listed below). The sentiment was stamped in Versafine Black Onyx pigment ink.

Other supplies: Recollections 65 lb Seaside cardstock pack, COPIC Sketch markers (BG13, BG23, R20, W1, W3, W5, W7), Gelly Roll 08 black pen
