Happy Birthday to Ewe

There is something about a stamp set featuring sheep that tickles my fancy…who knew?  Last year I was all over Lawn Fawn’s Baaah Humbug, and this year the torch has been passed to Ewe Are the Beat by My Favorite Things.  (And once I get the coordinating die set, it’ll really be on!!)  Here is the card I created for the current MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge:

I started off by selecting the patterned paper from American Crafts’ Hip Hip Hooray 6″ x 6″ paper pad that would be framing the oval.  I cut out an A2 sized paper from the patterned paper using the stitched rectangle die from WPlus9’s Gift Card Layers dies.   I cut out the center of this paper using the largest MFT Cross-Stitch Ovals STAX die and also cut an oval from Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock.

I used the MISTI to stamp my sentiment onto a scrap of lime green cardstock from my stash using Versafine Onyx Black ink, then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I trimmed the sentiment strip down and cut both ends into a banner shape.   Next, I used the sentiment strip to help me with the placement of the sheep, then stamped both sheep images in MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink and colored them in with COPIC markers (individual colors used are listed below).

I adhered the patterned paper frame to a white A2 top-fold landscape card base, then inlaid the oval into the frame.  I attached the sentiment strip with homemade glue dots, then added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins scattered across the card design.  Finally, I used a black Gelly Roll pen to go over the eyes of the sheep and added a coat of Wink of Stella Clear Glitter brush pen to the balloon to give it some added sparkle.

I am also submitting this card to the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Anything Goes).

Thanks for stopping by!!
